Do something positive!
Wipe the tears
from your eyes,
the sun is up
in the sky!
When the timing
is right,
you can live
you don't have to die!
You've given
your all,
and nothing can
squelch your pride.
The hangman
has come,
but you don't
have to live a lie.
When Winter
has gone,
you can offer
a sacrifice.
Give your
life willingly,
to the powers
that know your mind.
In time you may
find your peace,
there is no way
to stop a crimson tide!
The future
is an unknown,
and there are
no guarantees in life!
So walk off now,
into the setting sun.
You've had a great run,
so don't just sit and cry.
About This Poem
Last Few Words: This poem may seem a little disruptive, but I wrote it down anyway. I hope that some one will reply with a comment. My mood is sombre and sad, but I will not yet give up hope, there is always a new day! If I had just one friend I could talk to, I'd give up my right to live. The truth of the matter is, I wish that I had never come here, but this is my state of mind and my options are growing thin. This isn't my best, but it's truly the way I feel, persecuted and tormented in my mind!

Neopoet AI (premium) [2025-04]
The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:
This poem addresses themes of perseverance, mortality, and the search for meaning in the face of adversity. The imperative voice (“Do something positive!”) and direct address to the reader create an urgent, motivational tone, though this is complicated by darker imagery and references.
Structurally, the poem uses short lines and stanzas, which contribute to a sense of immediacy and emotional intensity. This brevity also allows each image or idea to stand alone, but at times it leads to abrupt transitions (for example, the shift from “the hangman has come” to “you don’t have to live a lie”). The poem oscillates between encouragement (“the sun is up in the sky,” “you’ve had a great run”) and more somber or fatalistic imagery (“hangman,” “crimson tide,” “give your life willingly”), creating a tension that is not fully resolved by the conclusion.
The use of metaphor is notable: “crimson tide” and “sacrifice” evoke strong, possibly violent or sacrificial imagery, which contrasts with the poem’s initial exhortation to positivity. This juxtaposition could be interpreted as an exploration of the complexity of hope in the face of despair, but the poem does not fully clarify its stance, leaving the reader with ambiguity about the intended message.
The poem’s reliance on familiar motivational language (“walk off now, into the setting sun,” “there are no guarantees in life”) risks cliché, but the inclusion of darker elements complicates this, suggesting an awareness of life’s difficulties beyond simple encouragement. However, the connection between these elements could be strengthened; as it stands, the poem’s shifts in tone may feel disjointed to some readers.
The ending, with its directive to “walk off now, into the setting sun,” provides a sense of closure, though it is ambiguous whether this is meant to be hopeful or final. The poem would benefit from clarifying the relationship between its positive exhortations and its references to mortality and sacrifice, either through more developed imagery or a clearer narrative progression.
Overall, the poem engages with complex emotional terrain but would be strengthened by more cohesion between its disparate elements and a more precise articulation of its central message.
