To Whom It Might Concern
To those who set
the world on fire
with an awful war,
like the falling
leaves of autumn
your masks fell
to uncover
the ugly faces.
Don't look in the mirror

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:
The poem adopts a direct and accusatory tone, addressing unnamed figures responsible for starting a war. The metaphor of “falling / leaves of Autumn” is employed to describe the shedding of “masks,” suggesting a seasonal inevitability to the exposure of true identities or motives. This image is effective in its suggestion of both decay and revelation, though the transition from the natural world (leaves) to the more abstract “masks” and “faces” is abrupt. The connection between the two images could be strengthened by further development or by integrating more sensory detail.
The closing line, “Don’t look in the mirror,” serves as both a warning and a condemnation, implying that self-reflection would reveal an unpleasant truth. The poem’s brevity and directness contribute to its confrontational stance, but the language remains general, relying on familiar imagery (“masks,” “ugly faces”) rather than specific or original detail. The poem might benefit from more concrete or nuanced imagery to deepen its emotional impact and to distinguish its voice from other anti-war poems.
Structurally, the poem uses short lines and enjambment, which create a sense of urgency but also fragment the imagery, making the progression of thought somewhat disjointed. Consider experimenting with line breaks or sentence structure to enhance clarity and flow.
Overall, the poem’s intent is clear, but its impact could be heightened by refining its imagery and developing a more distinctive voice.

To Whom It Might Concern
Hello, Rula,
I hope you are well!
Yes, just what the world needed, right? Let's devastate more children's lives, break more hearts, destroy (even more) the environment, send young men and women to do the job that disgusting politicians think is so important, so necessary for world peace. We never learn, we never learn.
Your poem, in its honesty, breaks my heart - the ugly faces will never learn.
Much love to you, My Friend.

I can't deny...
how horribly our government has acted, in the so-called name of Democracy and freedom. But we can take it back, we just have to keep reminding the people that we elect, that they work for us; they get the perks that they do, because we want them to worry about us, "the People". If you do not take care of our interests, then you are fired. Next! Anyway, I can't say that I enjoyed the subject matter, but I did think that it went rather well. I got the message loud and clear, without a lot of extra rant. Nicely done Rula, ~ Geez.

Dears Lavender and Geezer
I think the ugly faces shall never learn or change the way they act. Unfortunately, they're so many.
Thank you for reading and giving the time to leave such a supportive comment. I always appreciate it.

Thank you
On this day of NO KINGS rallies across the globe, your important poem helps to remind all of us that we must stand up for what we believe. We can not stand by and watch our nation be destroyed by a deeply disturbed individual and his cabinet of dangerous clowns.
Thank you for this important piece of poetry. - Will

Sir Will
I am sorry that I have to express myself with words I don't like to use. I never used to express hatred with my words, but seems like the crazy world changed us and I'm sorry for that, but I really appreciate your kind visit and the support.
Highly valued !
