The Day I Said It Right

A not so rewritten Memory

Maybe it was the weight of time on my shoulders
Or the peace I’ve been trying to attain for years
But upon taking the step to close the chapter
I finally learned to deal with old doubts and fears

Maybe it’s the decades of molding and shaping
Therapies, seminars, classes or books I’ve read
Or the stoic philosophy I embrace
I’m looking for balance and keeping a cool head

Maybe I’ve built patience and insight over time
Focused on some objectives I want to achieve
I won’t fall for those old tricks and traps anymore
I’m not that young man who used to be so naïve

I think it was my determination to grow
Even if I was berated, baited into a fight
I’m not angry anymore, that was the old me
Let’s just move forward – was the day I said it right

I feel remiss...

in not having commented on this one earlier.
I felt the earnestness in this one. The time is right.
Nicely done sir, ~ Geez
