Geezer
By Geezer, 22 June, 2011
Background
I have a diverse background in mostly manual labor as far as employment is concerned, and relate well to many different cultural backgrounds. I studied at community college, in human services. I have been a chatroom host and an advocate. I love Neo. and hope that I have and will continue to be a contributor to the site. I would like to implement the kind of Facebook discussions and maybe live reads that Irz has spoken of.
Qualities
I am fair, willing to see the other person's side of things but not a pushover. I am well read, and enjoy a good debate as well as the next person. I can agree to disagree and don't feel slighted whenever the vote goes against me.
Diplomacy
I am always hopeful that I can bring something to the table. Willing to try something new.
Leadership
I have been a foreman on many of the jobs that I have held, and feel that I can motivate people to do their best.
Availability
I am now retired and have plenty of time.
I check my messages and e-mails regularly, and if elected, I will check at least a couple of times a day.
Future Direction
Like the others, I would like to see Neopoet continue to be a place where there is room for everyone.
All the way from the serious poets who have or want to publish in the future, to those who just want and need a creative outlet. We have the most eclectic bunch of people from all backgrounds. I think that our greatest challenge is being met right now, with the different levels of pools and the advent of teaching one and all how to critique honestly, without offending. With that being said, I think that this the area that needs the most improvement. I see that we need to communicate better and hope that we can learn to utilize the talent we have and develop other's to meet our needs.
Alternative Role
If not elected to the AEC, I can see myself as maybe being valuable as a part of a special project, or mentor.
