Cooked and Served

Shoulders slumped
defeat lingering in the air
as if for the aroma
of something cooked and served.

Worry and shock
bubbles up from within
percolating to a boil
then simmering down to a point of a breakdown.

Lady dog kidnapped.
Spirited away from a certain place secure
where love, camaraderie, and memories
are now displaced by heartachek.

Stolen under the watch of night's cold-hearted orb,
Lady must've recognized her captors,
for there's a lack of evidence to say otherwise.
Lady went not, against her will.

Sorrow invades and glasses over
a pair of eyes that remember
Lady as a loyal friend
and nothing can erase her from Twilight's heart.

Now, the flame of agony has been extinguished,
but the riddle has yet to be solved.
The sauce is thickening, as they do
and Lady and Twilight have been reunited.

Together again-bonded to each other forever
never has an unsolved mystery brought such joy !
Relief flows up their optic nerves
and flows from each other's eyes !

However, just as defeat and sorrow flowed earlier,
should that agony dare to repeat itself
then revenge will surface in Twilight's eyes,
bringing the aroma of something else, decidedly cooked and served.
