A Conversations With Pops
I had a conversation the other day
About a part of my life best forgotten
My father spoke to me and I listened attentively
The sweaty palms dry to the sound of his calm voice
Is he being sincere or saving a man filled with fear
He told me how I silenced doctors, and specialists
How I overcame their predictions by leaps and bounds
The sun was drinking its coffee as the news anchor spoke
We paid no attention as my father verbally motivated
A son that didn’t only impress but left so many speechless
College for me was not in my destiny, oh folks continued testing me
If I don’t attempt to aspire than why waste the breath
No matter our maker we are all given a blank page
Some have a few words written as for me they weren’t worth quitting

I'm looking...
forward to the polished draft on this one. I'm not sure how to make that last line fit. Maybe if you say:
There are some that have a few written, I don't have many, but I'm not quitting. ~ Gee

This seemed like it needed some piece of information...
... not offered to fully understand. I had a little trouble with it. I'm not the fastest on the uptake and I think I missed something. Nothing wrong with the poetry though.

Yes, tend tend to think something changed about that last line
would round this poem out nicely. This is a bold suggestion, but it might give you a thread or thought
Some have a few words written
mine were in code, finally broken
