Poetry/Free Verse

Poetry: From www.dictionary.com, a lengthy list of defines follows the word, one of which reads prose with poetic qualities. From The American Heritage Dictionary, among others listed: Prose that resembles a poem in some respect, as in form or sound; A quality that suggests poetry, as in grace, beauty, or harmony.

Free verse: From The Americn Heritage Dictionary: Verse composed of variable, usually unrhymed lines having no fixed metrical pattern.

Free verse: From Wikipedia: a form of poetry which refrains from meter patterns, rhyme, or any other musical pattern ... free verse in English first appeared in the 1380s.

If I may be so bold, what is commonly thought of as classical poetry ought by rights extend to free verse, especially as its early writings---as, for example, in the Book of Psalms (or Song of Solomon) in the King James Bible---have stood (withstood?) the rigors/tests of centuries intervening tween then and now.
