it is what it is

memory
of that which is done
enfolded within the scar
of a remodelled heart

a vessel
for that which is left
dates, name
frogs
and an icon

a song
for that which will always be
jeremiah was a bullfrog
was a good friend of mine*

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

Hi Judy,

Songs tend to get stuck in my mind, now this one is
playing over and over, good thing I always liked it.
Three Dog Night, they were good !!!

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

thanks richard

yes - i loved three dog night - especially that song

my son, jeremy's, nickname was bullfrog, so it means even more to me because of that, the urn holding his ashes is green with frogs decorating it...

Hi Judy

I found this poem a little hard to compute. My problem not yours maybe you could explain to me what I'm missing. Also what is the song please. Maybe you could send me the youtube link

Hope my ignorance doesn't offend you John

you are no way ignorant john

this is a very personal poem and i wouldn't expect anyone who doesn't know the circumstances to understand it... i only put it on here to see, out of curiosity, what people would make of it (lol if anythiing) and if anyone might find a subtext of their own ...

my son jeremy's nickname was bullfrog
the song by three dog night was one of 'his songs' and was played at his funeral
the urn holding his ashes is green with frogs all over it

perhaps that makes it clearer for you

thank for your time here john

thanks for the condolences - but it was a long time ago now - 16 years - time has an incredible way of healing, and allowing one to understand that all is just a learning curve really...

but i like to write of it every now and then... to keep his memory alive..
