At approximately 7:30 am on May 8, 2013 in New York City (during a very heavy rainstorm), our datacenter provider, Galaxy Visions, suffered a brief power outage. Unfortunately, during this outage, their UPS battery system, which was supposed to bridge the gap between the outage and the time the generators went online, failed due to a defective battery, and some servers lost power (and obviously, ours was one of those that were affected).

On March 3, 2003, Neopoet.com launched with a simple idea and a humble look. We’ve had many “firsts”, and so we know a few anniversaries. On December 3, 2006, we launched our online poetry workshop and community. About a year later, we held our first elections and a volunteer team of members took on day-to-day control (and as a reminder… the nomination period for our 19th Administrative Council is currently open).
