BLOB

BLOB

As the blob of paint swims in wetness
Colours blossom and merge as they will
A flower petal becomes more intense
Pushing the envelope of a drawn outline
Painting its own image, satisfying itself
Vermillion and yellow both reaching out
As if to compete with lilacs and mauves
Wet on wet, and wet on dry techniques
Elbow their way into the emerging scene
Purple flowing gently across the blue sky
Tissue-dabbed clouds then slowly appear
The water, still with thin traces of white
Swallows deep blue to make it its own
A certain vibrancy, is lost when it dries
But replaced by a soft contoured wash
That hints of silently competing shades
All their origins in the natural palette
And paper quietly and patiently, absorbs
