FIRST TO ARRIVE
FIRST TO ARRIVE
No matter what the ticket said
I’ll be there first, in the queue
An assured entry it will be true
It is always best to plan ahead
But here I am, it’s barely dawn
And yes, now it started to rain
Being here this early was insane
I must attempt to stifle a yawn
This they say, is a unique event
I even found my spot last night
A thick anorak, buttoned tight
And I did put up this little tent
I have a camera and flag to wave
Here I will see them as they pass
And as is expected, oozing class
Memories of this day, I will save
They don’t do this in the ‘States
Going by in that golden carriage
Like their recent royal marriage
The pomp and ceremony awaits
Troops all in bright red uniform
All shiny black boots and horses
Royal guards, but still our forces
Tomorrow back to desert storm
Now a crowd is surrounding me
All eager to witness this parade
Although cold, I’m glad I stayed
For the clearest view of celebrity
