SELF

SELF

It’s sad if you can’t understand another’s life
The world all around you is merely a mirror
And no attempt at trying to transpose oneself
Into someone’s parallel world not so far away
Perspectives become narrower, internal only
With so little motivation to ever step outside
To witness the spectrum of colour out there
The angles and views from above and below
Then to see it all, but through another’s eyes
Maybe even develop a different point of view
No longer see how things affect only the self
Letting diverse opinions take root and thrive
Goodbye to echoes of class, culture and skin
Smash the mirror and look through the frame
A world you never did expect, waits for you
Let go of all those preconceptions and myths
And humbly join the human race once again
As part of a whole orchestra, not a solo flute
