Shipped away
To save the day
Not sure where they're sending me
Look left, look right
I'll have my brothers' back tonight
Jumping into darkness
All we see is black
The enemy thinking it's time to attack
Take me back to your face
I want out of this place.
The blood, the sweat, the tears
It'll all be worth it when we leave here
I'm coming back to you

"Appealing theme, Emily. I agree, the military give their lives for us. Your poem is a nice tribute to them. Title, content and spacing all good. Tx for sharing, Gracy" -

Hello! My name is, Emily. I am 28 years old and a mother to a 6 year old daughter. I am currently a stay at home mom & a volunteer at Soldiers' Angels. I have a boyfriend of 2 years & we're hoping to get married in the near future. In my spare time I enjoy writing poetry. I was born at 27 weeks gestation & weighed 2lbs. At 2 weeks old, I developed a brain bleed which lead to Cerebral Palsy. In 2003 I had 11 surgeries at The Shriner's Hospital for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana. I went through 19 years of physical therapy. I am proud to say that as of today, I am still walking independently.
