Each droplet of rain

Each droplet of rain
a mercenary of life
god sends from the skies

we hear them knock on roof tops
waking us to join rain dance

tyro the form you have to use

tyro the form you have to use here is Tanka of 5 lines conforming to sequence of syllabi 5/7/5/7/7 to the theme of raindrops/rain. Barbara would then consolidate such tankas posted to form a Renga

celebration of life [six syllabi]

suggestions

quench the thirst of the earth [six syllabi], could be turned to
quench the thirst of mother earth [seven syllabi],

celebration of life {six syllabi] could be turned to
true celebration of life [seven syllabi]

Love fall from heaven

Love fall from heaven
dark skies rain clouds are forming
silvery droplets

body cries out for comfort
from a stream boiling inside.

adding my two pence

sometimes as drizzle
at times in heavy torrent
drops of rain perform

the stage suddenly lights up
to announce upcoming act

Sun heats the waters

Sun heats the waters
Mist is freed of gravity
The clouds puff out full

Butterfly exits cocoon
As clear drops fall on my head.

Welcome tyro to the Renga

Welcome tyro to the Renga with your vivid tanka...

"as clear drops fall on my head" create a picture that you are enjoying the rain without an umbrella

Came up with this oneof Napolean

kids get excited
to sail paper boats on streams
to voyage their dreams

some are of the warrior
Napoleon Bonaparte

Great poem

I really like this little nugget. It’s not about rain or raindrops but kids sailing paper boats on streams works for me

one more...

grey clouds bear rain drops
form rainbow against sunlight
to brush them on soil

soon a painting emerges
so very pleasing to eyes

Barbara

Misted by the sun
Cooled and mixed in with the dust
Drops to thirsty earth.

Children splash in the puddles
This is life itself to all.

Wonderful wonderful

I think the second line in the 3 line haiku needs to more syllables. I count five. I maybe off tho being American dialect. lol.

Im not sure cooled and mixed are two syllables. Would you share the dictionary. I’ve realized dialect are different.

it doesn't necessarily have to connect with the previous Tanka... you post your tanka and Barbara latr connects all tankas posted here like links of a chain....in a separate link

one more

why is rain biased
about when and where to fall
rather than bless all

flooding some with her riches
not reaching those famine lands

one more

sweeping all rubbish
that is littered everywhere
cleansing air as well

if ever she is enraged
wrecks a havoc in her path

Glad you’re here jess

You can write a whole Tanka. Or as you did a couplet to raj haiku creating a Tanka. Collaboration at its best. I’ve allowed changes as they make the workshop more creative and inspiring. Not rigid or strict to form. Except for 5/7/5/7/7 is the only for Japanese. I am expanding to other forms as raj is saying but haven’t yet. It’s time now to do so. ready to create it with other poetry forms that is still collaborative in native. .
