Despite some really excellent imagery I found it somewhat self-consciously pretentious. Dylan Thomas said it all in "This my art and sullen craft" cheers

Thank you for your review. I probably should have mentioned this piece was written for a fellow writer I know that was having second thoughts about writing. He was disillusioned and I wanted to give him a smile. It was written in friendship toward him. However, you would not have known that. But I am suspicious of your motive by your wording of "pretentious" which means pompous. To me it is a clear indication of another influence involved. I appreciate your time and review. Pretentious doesn't mean pompous

It means having pretentions to something more than it is. The work means a lot more in light of your reply, I would certainly have really appreciated it myself under similar circumstances (which I go through about 3 times a week! 8)). As to us 3 sticking together! ROFL, you gotta be kidding! If we were in the same room we would probably all have some bruises by now! cheers

you know in the end we all

you know in the end we all have to go with our gut feelings/impressions of a piece. I have to go with what the Elf said on this one. Ultimately we write for ourselves.
