Why?

Are you pissed at me? It is still MY poem. It is about a life of deadends. It has meaning Jess, just wanted to add to the dark side of poetry like others do. I have alot of dark poetry, I even have a trilogy. I have no clue why you would be upset. Explain please. K. Mulroney

It was your comment "I don’t really like this piece. I don’t know where it came from really, other than I was trying to write a Raven poem because everybody else has..lo1!" that made me think I had been tricked into taking too seriously something that was just an exercise. I didn't read properly what you wrote after that. All is cool. cheers, Jess

Just so you you know

I feel everything I write Jess. What I meant was that everyone I know and have read had written a Raven poem. I was going thru some of Poe's poetry and believe it or not had never read the Raven before. I was surprised about the way he wrote other poetry. One in particular was about his mother-in-law. It was quite flattering and very easy to read. Anyway, I finally read The Raven that night and decided since everyone else had written one and his was outstanding, I wanted to see what I would come up with, without rhyming it. And this was what I came up with. It has a message in it. Self Salvation. Hope that helps. K. Mulroney

for the record...

ok, this first thing has nothing to do with your poem per se, Kim. I apologize. It's just that Poe ruined it for me with Ravens. (oh, that and the fact that my beloved Browns became the Ravens, lol!) But seriously, every time I see ravens or phoenixes (I know, I had one in "Leech," but that was the name of a coffee house)in a poem I'm just like "not THIS again!" But this is my fault, not yours. As to your poem, I like how your first stanza flows, though you may have a typo with "northing" in there. "I am thrown into the gales of grayed depression" is an awesome line, and eloquently says: "I'm depressed." I like that alot. As I do "She devours the useless fragments That held me captive. Her caw is cavernous, a thunderous croak." The middle I'm not quite so hot on, I think your language gets a bit choppy in the third and fourth stanzas, but it could be the way I'm reading it. Or the fact that I hate ravens! lol

Truthfully?

I don't really like this piece. I don't know where it came from really, other than I was trying to write a Raven poem because everybody else has..lo1! I actually think Poet Raven was excellent. I was hypnotized by how awesome the rhyme was. But thanks for the honest review I will stay away from all black bird from now on! K. Mulroney
