nonnock

on a nonnock
I drove to town

on a nonnock
I fell down

on a nonnock
I leapt a building

in a single bound

OK

I like the movement of this poem BUT what is a nonnock?

I believe you Chuck

Thousands wouldn't. It's not in the Concise Oxford. Anyway the poem worked for me even if it was a nonsense word. cheers, Jess

Real Word

Not nonsense. As a noun it means whim. As a verb it means to waste time. Another synonym would be the word notion, but I prefer the sound and feel of the word nonnock in this poem. BTW, I'm sure there are many other real words not contained in the Concise Oxford. Chuck
