on path

to be kind to others

I often try—

and then, to my surprise,

prevail to cry:

as I approached, late yesterday,

a woodsy crossing path,

I yielded proper right-of-way

to a passing butterfly.

I swear she nodded gratefully

as she zigzagged her way

(and did so

so very cheerfully)

right on by.

This piece says

to me that it is the unexpected ones, the ones that do not need to say thank you that are polite enough to do it. Splendid ditty! K. Mulroney

yeah,
