I'll Be Sure
Oh, mother, please!
You do create in
Me profound unease
For I’m all grown now
And a great big cheese.
Do not speak to me
Around my friends,
The ones with knobby knees,
In pidgin Portuguese
Or motherese.
And I’ll then not talk
In computerese
Or of Socrates,
And I’ll be sure to clean
My plate of peas.
