I'm Growing

Spare me,

the knowledge of a slow, lonely demise,

and the unnecessary clutter of too many insights.

Teach me only of the basics of the light,

that I may harness that knowledge as a kite does, the wind.

Using that power to propel myself forward...

..into the realm of peace and love.

Tether me, not,

to a saddle that is impossible to ride,

where tomorrow barely exists but in the mind.

Help me to comprehend only what matters.

Such as items found on the fair side of the heart,

where truth is it's ancestor,

and the answers feel good at the thought of them.

Excuse me,

for ever pretending to be anything else;

and for not being aware of all the items on the shelf;

Because true understanding surfaces gradually.

So share with me your patient ways,

and let the incline towards perfection be steady,

yet as gradual as can be...

..so as to learn.

for as we learn.....we are able to understand,

and as we understand.....we grow.

Doc, what touched me most deeply in this poem

were the lines "So share with me your patient ways, and let the incline towards perfection be steady, yet as gradual as can be…" Yes, I am with you, brother. We may never attain perfection but we can strive without that evil Christian concept of "original sin" As we as a race grow and learn the future (to quote Iain M. Banks) is bright red (in the socialist sense). With technology and wisdom concepts like greed and exploitation will become completely obsolete. cheers, Jess
