The Promise

It was a promise
made years ago.    A youthful passion,
a soulful pledge.   Our safe keeping for eternity, that somehow
someday
you'd find me again
and I'd be waiting.

So I did,
passing through life
amidst other lovers
hard times,
splendid times
and through it all,
I waited -

believing your promise was forever.   Forever is a funny thing,
as I kneel beside the gray stone
that reads your name - never forgetting one moment,
one smile,
one promise kept
forever
eternally
waiting.

Forever is a funny thing....

Donna, it means forever in the heart. I made and a certain girl made such a promise once, now she must fade away into the world of spirituality until a more forever time. We live about 800 miles apart, but it might as well be infinity. Read my Strange Love for a sense of what I mean. Nicely written! :) Happy holidays to you my poet friend. :) Patrick/AO

Very Nice

I don't know what any one believes but here is what I would Want for my Lover if I was departed For I believe that when passed we are thrown into a great lake of souls to mingle as the waters trans versing one drop to the other till we know and love whatever the other drop "is all about" to know not as in the flesh but to be able to see the others thoughts, hopes, dreams, and desires for when the Bible says somethging to this accord that we our not giving or promise one to the other in heaven whence till death do we part as long as one remains the other is remebered but, they both have new roles to play and to be played out the only exception I find is the promsies made here on this plane Eg. one while here Divorce is a big part to my belief that certain rules be followed before moving to the next step, but for my lover or wife I would want their required griving and for my lover or spouse to fully live In my absents so when I trans verse to her in the Great Pool of Tears I will Know Her Again and mine eyes be open to her as a gift that she was loved fully and that she has loved fully Ah but that is me I am sometimes not here fully ooo Donnie/Sinbad I Love kept promises! and when they are broken out of Love? PS Happy Holidays

Nice poem!

When I read this it seems to be about a young love, but somehow maybe this love left for awhile and you hoped you would always meet again. Then he passed away and you remembered your love and the promises. And now you wait for eternity to see him again? Did I understand it? I liked it alot!
