The Promise
It was a promise
made years ago. A youthful passion,
a soulful pledge. Our safe keeping for eternity, that somehow
someday
you'd find me again
and I'd be waiting.
So I did,
passing through life
amidst other lovers
hard times,
splendid times
and through it all,
I waited -
as I kneel beside the gray stone
that reads your name - never forgetting one moment,
one smile,
one promise kept
forever
eternally
waiting.
