Why’d You Leave Me?

Daddy, love

This mark you’ve left upon my heart,

It’s more than just in open wound,

It’s gushing blood,

And I feel doomed,

Doomed to die slowly, painfully,

All the way internally

Daddy dear,

Why'd you leave me?

I’m not grown up,

I’m just a kid,

Not even thirteen,

Just considered a “tween”

Daddy,

It’s almost been two years,

And for you I’ve shed,

 Oh so many tears

Daddy,

I know it’s not your fault,

You didn’t mean to leave,

Daddy, please don’t feel guilty

For just abandoning me,

I know you had no say in this,

It was just your time to go,

But daddy,

Still--

You died and left me here,

The blood pouring from me--In an endless flow

I've lost both my parents

What you will find is that we grieve more for our own loss, than for the loss suffered by the person who passes. It is natural for us to do this. We are a selfish race. Still as you mature, you may be able to cherish memories of your father and your time spent with him. I am saddened that you lost your Dad. This poem hopefully is part of the process of healing and moving on. keep writing and remembering
