Penny Rain

showers of wealth
at first a drizzle
then a shower
collective fortunes
too bulky to gather
fragmented royalties
threaten at each delivery
would you like to buy,
a reinforced umbrella?

The Big Umbrela

How does so much rain get through the big umbrella that we need find ways of desperatly saving ourselves? Maybe it's not leaking through but rather falling from under. Maybe it will collaps one day and the sun will shine and evryone will know there was really nothing to fear or even need reinforcement, yes? You go deep and this is where you take me. Thanks, David, Mark

Can’t stop trying to

Can't stop trying to squeeze the poem into the tune of The Beatles' "Penny Lane," of course then you would have to share your pennies with Paul and Ringo.

Pennies from Heaven maybe

Another condensed cameo David. Enjoyed as always. I think from a tense point of view it should be "threaten" rather than "threats"...since royalties are plural. Keith

The seminal Russian film maker, Eisenstein

once said "the art of film is the ruthless elimination of the inessential". I believe the same applies to poetry, another way to put it is "compression of meaning". You have achieved it perfectly. cheers, Jess
