Elaine (II)

No, it wasn’t her stunning,

breathtaking beauty,
nor was it her eyes

which were strikingly blue,
which were lively, vivid and witty,
which were azure

and which were a splendour to view.
Nor was it her face which

was so very exquisite and pretty.

It was other things that mattered to him:

It was her inner self, her personality

that mattered the most.
It was her persona which was so smart,

so quick and witty, she was divine,

lovely  and truly gracious;
She was also persevering,

dynamic and ambitious,
and she had great dreams

and aspirations,

her visions flew.
Yet, she was open, candid,

gentle and courteous.

She had excellent judgement

and impressive maturity.
She had romantic and sensitive traits;

her noble ideals forever grew,
she was giving, she cared,

her kindness proved marvellous.

He admired the outside traits,

but it was her inner core,

her psyche,

her inner world,

that he treasured the most…
