The Last Goodbye
The Last Goodbye….. He lay down alongside her, and kissed her cheek gently,She looked at him with tears in her eyes and smiled.Together they lay in silence…Not a word was spoken,For they both knew this would be their final goodbye. She reached over to wipe a tear from his face,He was trying so hard to be strong for her.The pain was beginning to fade…They both began to cry rivers of tears,And the silence was broken.
Then she slipped away to a better place.
Memories came flooding back,Their lives had been so perfect until now.In a split second everything had changed.Time was running out fast,As she was slipping away from him. Her breathing became short and shallow,As she gasped at every chance she had. Through tears he struggled to look at her,But he knew he had to say goodbye…Before she slipped away. “I love you with all my heart” she saidHis heart broke with those words,“I’ll never love anyone, the way I love you”she knew his words were true. But she wanted him to be happy,And love again once she was gone,So he promised her one last wish,That was to be strong. To smile each day the sun came out,To run naked in the rain..To laugh even when he’s sadTo be grateful for life, when it’s treating him bad,And to LOVE with all his heart again. The last tear rolled down her cheek,As he kissed her lips for one last time.He hugged her tight, Touched her hair and stroked her face..
Then she slipped away to a better place.
