The Reason I Chose You

    This is a poem from a friend.  She wanted opinions on it.


As I sit here watching you sleep,
I'm reminded of your sweetness
and the reason I chose you. Your
small innocent wonder of life, had
me spell bound from the first.
Loyalty, honest, take no crap from
anybody attitude, mesmerized me.
I knew even before I knew I knew
that you were my new refreshing
life.  A change of pace that was
quite welcome one that was badly
needed, if my life was to continue.

Oh, yes you were quite a challenge
in the beginning.  Because of your
reservations about the oppression
you had received all your life I had to
earn your assurance of my trustworth-
iness.  I had to prove that I am not like
everybody else.  I hope I can continue
to prove that my one conviction is to
persuade you of my sincereness,
to be undivided in giving you my
genuine unabridged self.  Because
 if there is one thing I do well, it's that
I stick to my commitments once they
are made, unless I have reason.
