Beyond the Sunset

Sailing through tomorrow,
Flight from yesteryear,
Leaving cares and sorrow
To fly beyond the fear.

Reality has left us,
Shadows in the night,
Dream eyes come unfocused,
Lost to us our sight.

To sail beyond the sunset,
Through the starlit sky,
To have no last regrets,
No more tears to cry.

Congrats on re-election. I've often wondered what would happen if one were to keep riding off into the sunset.... Nice write, friend. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- "If you've ever emptied the back of your pickup truck by driving backward really fast and slamming on the brakes, you might be a redneck" - Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall: "that's how we moved"

This is a beauty Rett. So peaceful, calm, and serene. I felt myself floating! Lost to us [,] our sight? felt it stopped a little bit there, could be me. "There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you." Will Rogers

I appreciate it. You may be right. It does seem to stop there. Soon as I can I will see about editing it. It is just the way I wrote it with no editing whatsoever. Didn't have the time. *L* Respectfully, Rett: "The only thing observable with the naked eye to exceed the speed of light is rumor" Unknown

Not sure about ...

the second stanza. I think could use a sharper pen re punctuation. But that said, your rhyming's excellent. You're quite good at that, you know. Yours, Chuck

I will get it corrected as soon as time allows. This went straight in as written and needs some tuning. I appreciate it. Respectfully, Rett: "At twenty, if you aren't a liberal you have no heart. At 30, if you aren't a conservative, you have no brain." Winston Churchill

Why thank you lil lady

Ah really ahpreciate it. *G* Hmmm, I have done the pickup thing, but never claimed not to be one. After I cleaned up I found a lawnmower I didn't recognize, does that count? *LOL* Really I did. Belonged across the street. Wind blew it over here and a limb fell and covered it up. Respectfully, Rett: "At twenty, if you aren't a liberal you have no heart. I guess finding machinery is better than finding confused livestock ambling about. However, that would resolve the mowing situ... *poke* you know I'm never going to let you live that down, right? Jeez, mate, I wouldn't be your friend

if I didn't say my mind. It's a lovely little piece but I don't see what all the fuss is about. Not exactly a ground shaker. Are we hard-nosed truth-seeking street poets getting old sentimental and soft? Hit me with your rythm stick! cheers, Jess

*LOL* JessElf

Sometimes I get sentimental and soft. Hard nosed truth seeking is not appreciated without a little sentimentality my friend. Just as you can't appreciate good until you experience evil, you don't appreciate hard until you know soft. Love and hate, night and day. Get it my friend? Sometimes a little fancy breaks the monotony. Respectfully, Rett: "Two things stand in the way of a liberal doing what he thinks is best for people. ok, grudgingly

but do get on my case if I happen to post something gentle and sentimental. I can't help a nagging feeling that this site is becoming self-congratuatory and soft. cheers, Jess
