Yes you are right it is 5/6/5 but many of us are under the misconception that the haiku has to be 5/7/5. I was also under this impression until I read some great haiku that do not strictly conform to the 5/7/5 format. Great writers of the haiku have also suggested this as long as it remains within 17 syllables. Of course, the 5/7/5 format is the perfect format. Thanks for reading and commenting ... Leonard

I have read other beautiful haiku that is in all kinds of formats. I like 5/6/5----3/4/3 etc. ex.7/6/4 3/7/8 etc. to each their own I love writing in short at times. You write good poetry so. Respectfully Yours, Barbara
