Life Is Not That Simple

Oh my god
Don't make me cry
If all I needed
Were a plane
To make me fly

If all I needed
Were a phone
To make me talk

If all I needed
Were some shoes
To make me walk

If all I needed
Were the courage
To make me try

If all I needed
Were a gun
To make me die

If all I needed
Were some money
To make me give

If all I needed
Were a life
To make me live

But I'm not
The same as you
So my pain
 Is never through

Man o Man

I hear the pain and frustration coming through here man. Not only that, it is a very good write. There are a lot of ifs that people take for granted. If I could replace my heart, would I still love the same? Man, the more I read this the deeper it gets. This one really hit home here sir. Well written and expressed. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby" Rett: 2008

Thanks Rett!

I really appreciate your comment. For a time, I had unpublished this poem because it does express some sentiments I have that I would prefer some people not know about. However, I decided to publish it again. Sincerely, Michael

Be positive my friend

Look around my friend Things could be alright If only you'd make your mind up And give it just a try. I see tons of sadness & negative feelings here, Michael. And it fills my heart with sadness, too. Remember, there are no two persons alike in this whole world and that it is a must that we all have to live with our differences. Let's enjoy those differences & be happy. With wishes for your happiness, Nilmini

Some powerful ...

feelings---and old hurts---you portray here (and aptly). I'll cut across the common grain to emphasize my sense that your feelings, and your hurts, come entirely (100%) justified. Life's inherently unfair. It's the nature of the beast/Beast. If I'd first read this while standing/sitting next to you, I'd offer a hug---or at the very least a listening ear. I think you're entitled. Yours, Chuck PS: I know people come from a well-meaning place, but to send you cheer-up, keep-your-chin-up, everybody's-got-troubles message(s) serves only to salve their own discomfort. And does nothing for you. In fact, it's downright hurtful; it adds to the pain(s).
