MISTLETOE
MISTLETOE
Once virgin white, the berries
blush pretty-girl pink
encrimsoned by
the Yule-tide fire
First a chaste
and friendly kiss,
pressed a slick second longer
in a soft caress
provokes a flick of tongue
to lick the joining of her lips:
‘friendly’ has fled, chased -
replaced by passion;
whose entwined tongue
and lips conjoin, conspire
and conjure but a single word …
… desire
