Two short poems

In a drought

the trees make the sound

of water

In the silence of the wood

the adder

crosses the path

Too short!

Just kidding,I got the picture right away. These lines convey some of things that I am sure you meant, and all of the things that I could conjure up! Great Job! I am only now begining to realize the things that I have missed before joining neopoet. You and all the rest of the people here have shown me so much! Thanks Ann, O'Queen of Poetic Norway! Gee.

YAY Ann,

master of the Japanese art of writing! I love these "short poems", especially how they complement each other. You have conjured up a vivid picture in my imagination. Admirable! Yours, ~Nina

AW! Nina thank you

Coming from one who studies the art of poetry this is a welcome response, thank you dear Nina but I do not call myself a master. After all the Sushi students are not masters until they have studied the 'art' for seven years, is it!!!!!!! I have more of these and each time we are out in the woods more seem to come, falling out of the air as one sees or hears something that prompts the mind to muse and create new combinations of thoughts, one could say living metaphors, as they strike a note in the brain just then and there at that moment and are complete. Ever your friend Ann of Norway

Dear Ann,

I was on the shore today, throwing rocks, building a breakwater. Nothing skipped. Of the rocks. Are you in your woods today? These poems seem like little teases and still big, like the breakwater meant to be. Brian

Words ...

by which to meditate. Very nice. Soothing. So wonderful it is that so few words (can) convey so much. When often the reverse is so: that a piece of many words conveys but little. Thanx, Chuck
