Inside/Outside

Inside a song
a killing time resides
of pleasure and pain
an empty heart
a thoughtless whim
of saturated notes
a rounded beat unravels
to a broken heart
on a road to ruin

&

Outside a song
genetic makeup begins
of broken strings
and an empty glass
from inside a dream
a shuffled beat
across the skin
the drumsticks roll
of muted vocal
and muffled tone

And somehow the dirge takes

And somehow the dirge takes wings. Much enjoyed your poem. ~A "You begin saving the world by saving one person at a time; all else is grandiose romanticism or politics." Charles Bukowski
