DEPARTING

Perfectly impermanent.....

So fragile,
These egg shells
Overly dry and brittle,
Waiting for Life's callous touch
To turn them to dust.

While I am nothing
But a weeping heart
That these shards pierce,
My blood flowing out in tears.

I have many wounds now......

Yet my heart never fails
To well over with the salted emotion,
Spilling eternally over the brim
Of an ocean blue sky.

Shall I take your fine dust
And mingle it
With the liquid azure of my sorrow,
And let the stark whiteness of your absence
Paint the shadows in my soul
A lighter color?

Now a healing poultice
For my weary spirit,
Comforting as time passes.....

Becoming the backdrop on which
Your memory will lie.

Very sad

Yet fitting. The title is appropriate. A gentle spirit rises to the top of these well constructed lines. This is heart and soul. Always, Cat

Healing

Healing is the end result of grieving. We are sad for those who lose the presence of one so dear. Many times we think only of what we have lost, and not what we have gained by knowing that person, but you said it perfectly! Excellent write! Gee.
