The Colors of Damnation

What color is hell?
For some, it burns red and orange
Fire and brimstone fall from the sky
Lava surrounds burning rocks like a mote
Others say hell is white and blue
A land frozen, cold, and abandoned by God
For me, hell is many colors
Allow me to explain

Hell has seven sections
The first glows pink
Within the haze
People yearn for contact
A release never achieved
This is Lust

The second shines yellow
A glare from the eyes
Of men and women
Who want it all
They're never satisfied
This is Greed

Adjacent to yellow
A field of green
Where they want what you got
They won't stop 'till it's theirs
but they'll never be happy with it
This is Envy

Next we see
An acid orange abyss
Full of those who hunger
They've had their fill and more
Yet they will never be satiated
This is Gluttony

Across the way
A couch upholstered in blue
People sit
Tired, lazy, lacking ambition
But hard work is coming
This is Sloth

Deep in a red sea
Bloodshed is commonplace
Revenge is a hobby
People hate indiscriminately
Their rage blinds them
This is Anger

Last, and perhaps the worst of all
A purple palace
Full of those
Too confident to recognize their flaws
Flaws that will never be corrected
This is Pride

Seven Deadly Sins

A well thought out piece and should hold most readers, I thought it was a great write and the explaination of each Sin was top line, so I shall avoid each of these and remain in perfection LOL, You take care and keep on writing pieces as this one, Yours Ian.T PS:- Lava surrounds burning rocks like a mote mote = Tiny Speck Moat = Water around a Castle

im reminded

I read this and am reminded of that episode of americas next top model where they do the seven deadly sins with each represented in a color. Your poem is good, in that it says hell is not a place we go when we die but that of a living presence something and someone we live with everyday. -diatom shells

What a lovely way of putting

What a lovely way of putting a terrible thought, not that I believe in such a place, but here you show us that it is right here where we are, in the thick of it as you might say. I cannot see any flaws in this text and give it 5 stars for its quality Yours Ann of Norway
