all you can eat

let us gather
together
around the table
of discontent

feast on our own
insecurities
til we've had our fill

then have seconds

let us raise a glass
in honor of hours
days
turning into waning years
spent in introspection

spent none the less

let us eat the bounteous
spread before us
whilst we can
slowly
savoring our satiety

yearning even more
at evenings end

together
in collective individuality
having had our fill

still hungry

indeed

Rick, I do believe I've been to this party/feast many times in younger days. Now I try my hardest to avoid it. For me there are only so many times that I can flog myself before I look to learn a better way. A really awesome poem, my friend. Always, Cat

Awesome theme!

Given my allegiance to psychology - I have to tell you this is Text book stuff on "family therapy". Most of what we do is self-reflecting: 'Men do not understand how to see the invisible through the visible. They do not realize the arts they employ are reflections of their own natures." Hippocrates You have done a great job of bringing this to our collective consciousness through your terrific write! Well done! Bonita j

I am a 'student'

of psychology myself. Self taught. Amazing, what we glean from carefully paying attention to our Selves. The world surrounding us begins to make more sense. I am most appreciative of your comments. Sincerely, ~Rick

This provokes thought… I

This provokes thought... I find myself gorging on introspection, yet idle. Full yet famished, I really relate to this, very nice.
