She.
A woman of not many words
Her silence beholds truths
Sometimes comforting
I lose myself, in thinking that
She's my mother and I love her
But she caused me such pain
She took the light from my life
"He's no good for you"
"He'll only hurt you"
Leaving for the court
Placing the restraining order on him
"He'll never see you again"
The disgust in her eyes, looking at my wrists again
The love and warmth
That she used to show me, is gone now
But it's not all my fault
She thinks so.
Our mother-daughter bond was shattered today
Maybe it will resurface
Maybe we'll go back to the way things were
Will it?
Maybe I'll ask her
another day
But what she'll say
Is a mystery
Her silence beholds truths
Sometimes comforting
I lose myself, in thinking that
She's my mother and I love her
But she caused me such pain
She took the light from my life
"He's no good for you"
"He'll only hurt you"
Leaving for the court
Placing the restraining order on him
"He'll never see you again"
The disgust in her eyes, looking at my wrists again
The love and warmth
That she used to show me, is gone now
But it's not all my fault
She thinks so.
Our mother-daughter bond was shattered today
Maybe it will resurface
Maybe we'll go back to the way things were
Will it?
Maybe I'll ask her
another day
But what she'll say
Is a mystery
