Fleeting Days Of Summer
The first whisperings of autumn are upon us
with dried leaves skittering
from a wind bearing a slight touch of chill
the solitary honk of a goose
and the point of its 'V', giving directions to old man winter
Little childrens' memories of splashing about in lakes
pools
and ocean waves
will soon be replaced by sums
literature
and runny noses
Seasonal birds, disgruntled by chill-wind mussed feathers
take their leave to warmer arenas
where they'll gossip in the sunlight
and marvel at the stupidity
of the creatures that remain at their previous venue
Before long
we will sit in longing
for God's warm touch upon us again
with dried leaves skittering
from a wind bearing a slight touch of chill
the solitary honk of a goose
and the point of its 'V', giving directions to old man winter
Little childrens' memories of splashing about in lakes
pools
and ocean waves
will soon be replaced by sums
literature
and runny noses
Seasonal birds, disgruntled by chill-wind mussed feathers
take their leave to warmer arenas
where they'll gossip in the sunlight
and marvel at the stupidity
of the creatures that remain at their previous venue
Before long
we will sit in longing
for God's warm touch upon us again
