Oh Father, A Revelation I Will Always Remember
Oh Marvelous Spirit, how divine
You guided my path and made me shine.
The love you provided
Was abruptly decided
As you said “son you shall now be mine.”
In my dreams and throughout my sorrow
Your love would always follow.
But with increasing pain
Came with it a great strain
And my heart grew ever so hollow
Well in return you deserved to receive
My words “Lord yes! I do believe!”
Yet I was hasty to fake
Just like the garden's black snake
So quickly was I to deceive.
I took your gifts for granted, as a reason to boast
Ignoring your greatness, Oh Holy Ghost.
Soon I realized that I' would regret it
Yet still decided to give you no credit.
How blind was I of my inevitable roast?
Within a split second, my world set ablaze
Everything I knew became a haze.
The foundations of life began to crumble
With time passing I soon became humble
Until all I could do was manage a gaze
In that gaze I pondered, then understood
That you had gifted me all of life's wood
You brought upon me salvation
And gave to me my revelation
It was then I realized the ground I stood.
Staring at the ashes, I clearly saw
My demands of you were my number one flaw
I was your servant
And quite unobservant
Of the many ways you have left us in awe.
Whenever successful I began to say
“It seems the Lord was with me this day.”
I served in your glory
And told them your story
As debris from my sin was carried away.
Oh Marvelous Spirit, how divine
You guided my path and let me shine.
I witnessed your wrath
And now follow your path.
In your greatness, Oh father, I shall dine.
You guided my path and made me shine.
The love you provided
