In A Maze of Thorns

In a maze of thorns
Few will shine
Since many have horns
They cannot be mine

As I search day and night
I begin to grow lost
Desperate in  flight
I leave many thorns tossed

The further I push the more I'm cut
Yet knowing I must advance
Must reach the door before its shut
So I may have a chance

There comes so often a prick
Leaving holes ever so small
At times being three inches thick
Still failing to make me fall

Standing here as my skin bleeds
I rely on healing showers
Having to trudge through all the weeds
In order to reach the flowers

Beautiful poem!!

This is a very go, and very true poem!! It is wired, when I was 12 I draw a picture or a valley of thorns and just beond the thorns was a medow of flowers... I draw the pic for my mom, she was doing thought hard times and I gave it to her and said "You have to go thought the thorns to reach the flowers". You poem reminded me of that, and I thank you!! This is a great poem, you might consider adding puncsuation and all. For one poet to the next, ~Rain~

Glad it helped!

Im glad that it brought up a good memory. I wrote this out of a memory of my grandma telling me about a dream she had about running towards something that she so desperately wanted and getting cut up by thorns. Yet she never found out what it was that she was pursuing. -Carch

I wanted to comment on this poem first

Hi there and it was good to talk with you live last night.Thank you for adding me as a buddy. This is a wonderful poem and so much of the Greek tale of the minotaur in the maze. It reminded me very much of that, but also the day to day life struggle of small pricks and large cuts...the good days and the bad days. The last two lines were excellent and I guess we all tramp through the weeds to get to the flowers... But remember weeds are plants growing where we do not want them to grow and it is also about control. I do think this one is my favourite so far but you write often so this might well change. Seabhac

HiYa

mmmmmm..i can feel pain... in your words, I like this part best... "The further I push the more I’m cut Yet knowing I must advance Must reach the door before its shut So I may have a chance" I did not make it to the door in time... But when ever a door ...is locked... Looking back... I see my self taking way too much time ... to go look for that open door... Peace ...LaTer8^)
