A Language Love Affair

My love for language is peculiar

Of unusual nature I prefer

Combinations of sounds, a scholar’s symphony

Puzzles of the mind which can lead you to a transcending epiphany

Each word’s capsulated power, logarithmic in comparison to its size

Each rhythmic phrase pours entertainment into the soul through the eyes

A poet is not only one who writes but reads as well

Fixed identity, on a single occupation one must not dwell

Poetry can make investigators of us

Strategic I feel, inspired and ready to discuss

When unlocking, decoding the most intimate thoughts of another

Our souls we are entrusting in each other

The poem’s prestige to reinvent

Shines light upon what’s meaningful, the tangible’s existence solely to represent

Wash my face clean with vocabulary unique

Refreshed, revived, impurities cleansed from my cheeks

Allow yourself to appreciate language, allow yourself to become cultured

And I promise you, like I, you will fall in love with the written word

Beautiful Poem

Beautiful poem beba. After reading and then rereading it, It reminded me of why I love reading so much. I especially liked the way you handled the ending of the poem. It is a strong finish. The only thing I suggest is that in the future you try to reduce the length of your sentences. I feel that would make the poem flow better and be easier to swallow. Keep up the writing (:o) -Sopho
