This and When
Take this and when you get there
think of me,
for stolen hearts
and pilfered property.
Pour all your sentiments
and lost desires
into the red hot flames
of earthly ashen fires.
Take now the heedless heart
and winter grain.
Leave but a snake skin shell
of old disdain.
The new will become
old and new again,
And it is Love who
knew it in the end.
When Earth is folded up into the Sky
It says “good luck, we'll meet again someday”
For all souls know forever is right now
and heaven is a field of pallid grey.
And as Time sings last dawn's lullaby
look to the gifts that I have given thus
and drown them in the
warm volcano dust.
