must breezes

==

must

you speak whenever
I am silent? of what, pray
tell, are you afraid?

--

breezes

ruffle my feathers,
cool the sun; butterfly adorns
a stone, flaps her wings,

then

poses in her
tranquility

before

taking fluttery
flight, seeking romance of a
sort I do not know

and
would not
understand

Ahhhh. Methinks you

Ahhhh. Methinks you understand, and so say not. Love Barbsdad2003 poems. ~A "The plain man is familiar with blindness and deafness, and knows from his everyday experience that the look of things is influenced by his senses, but it never occurs to him to regard the whole world as a creation of his senses." ~ Ernst Mach

I'm blessed ...

often by my not-understandings. Ah! the mystery that holds me in awe. There's so cotton-pickin' much of it (mystery, I mean) on all sides. And inside. Of course. Thanx, Chuck

Dear Chuck

A thought to ponder. Were you out side watching nature in action? I love the butterfly part but I have to say, the first bit really spoke to me. must you speak whenever I am silent? of what, pray tell, are you afraid? Always, Cat

I love the way you think.

Dear Chuck, I would like to know how the first part of this poem connects to the second. Merely for my understanding. I'm not saying it doesn't, I'm just saying I don't know for sure how it does. I'll venture though: the poem makes me think of how important silence is - so we can meditate, be with ourselves for a minute or two, even when we are not alone - and how maybe some are not comfortable with silence; the second part of the poem, from 'breezes,' shows us through your skillful use of imagery, how we benefit from silence. And the ending: 'before taking fluttery flight, seeking romance of a sort I do not know and would not understand' is perfect. How did I do? Thanks, Lisa

I think ...

it'd be fun to give a college English/lit/poetry class an assignment to make the connection(s) available to be made tween these (what might seem to be at first blush) disparate pieces. I daresay there'd be a variety of assessments/conclusions/perceptions, all/any of which would/could be weighty/apt. It's sufficient, at least for me, that I make such connections. I trust a reader can find a touchstone/connection within his/her own experiences/life challenges. I'd volunteer my own bridge(s) regarding the above, but in this particular case I don't want to proscribe others' connectors. Please don't take offense at this. None is intended. Not in the slightest. As far as "How did I do?"---you did wonderfully well. Thanx, Lisa. Yours, Chuck

I thought...

that is what you would say. How could I ever be offended by such a gentle poet as you? I would be the first to sign up for that class. I've always wanted to see Chicago. (For some reason my memory says you live in Chicago.) I simply love your poetry and try to learn from each piece. Thank you, Lisa

I smile at ...

your "in through the out box." Delicious expression. And so telling, and Zen. The LW quote brings further grinning to my lightly bearded face. I couldn't agree more ... than I already do. Thanx for reading, thanx for the bravo. Yours, Chuck

Dearest Chuck

Even though I know my idea of undestanding that silent love ... you make me want to understand the love you speak of and then I just do ... brilliant poem ... wonderful lines all of them I cannot pick favourites love and hugs JayCee x x x ("Quote:-For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it.-Ivan Panin")

Hey there!

Always glad to see you. And thanx. Isn't it wonderful how insight can arrive in a quiet, subdued flash? It wasn't there, and then it is. No explanation of how it is is necessary. I know well of what you speak. Hugs, Chuck

all these comments bespeak the success of your work

all I can add is that you are the only poet I know who can get away with using bold type and punctuational devices with impunity. You clever old bastard! Cheers, Jess, Reprehensibly irrepressible, "the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind." [Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged]

Thanx, Jess

I'm quite proud of old and bastard. Might take offense at clever. But since it's you, it's all OK. Yours, Chuck
