I
did

quite very well,
actually, in school, in
particular

avoiding things
like girls, grades C-D-F,
bullies, those dumb kids'

disputes over
numskull issues, avoiding
things like food good

for me, front-row
classroom desks, the principal,
dancing, inside jokes---

and also things that
would bring me being anywhere
close to popular ...

and too, of course, all
forms of poetry good or
bad

good boy

It's fun to have a glimpse into your early life. Easy to believe you saw the A and B regularly appearing on your report cards! Happy you did not avoid poetry forever, though! This is a case where your "things like" works better than the technically correct but cluttering "things such as" would work. Also allows me to picture you as a schoolboy speaking! Very nice, Chuck.

Thanx

It appears I'm at present successfully avoiding being popular at this site. Nothing new, that. I've had a very long lifetime of getting used to it. Yours, Chuck

unpopular

I hear ya! But popularity is sometimes overrated! How about a little notoriety, then, eh?

Dear Chuck

Excellent look at the young Chuck. My favorite lines are: for me, front-row classroom desks, the principal, dancing, inside jokes— I spent a good deal of time with my principal, too. Always, Cat

So ...

please tell me more. How was it? With the principal, I mean. And thanx for the read, and of course the comment. Glad you like it. (Regards the write, none of it's fiction, naturally: Would I tell a lie? Well, actually not, especially in this case.) Yours, Chuck

Dear Chuck

I was a bad girl, who wrote poetry in class while I was supposed to be reading the lesson. I also skipped out on a few classes. Always, Cat

Inspired me to write...

...one of my own in this style. Only mine would be how I didn't do well and the things I didn't avoid and should have. Thanks, Chuck. Lisa p.s. i would miss your poems, if you wanna know the truth.

poetry finds its own way i

poetry finds its own way i think, there are people that i know that would be natural poets but have never written, it leaks in thoughts, accidental sentences, unexplainable emotion, its also an ability for emotive perception....
