                                           ابيات للامام الشلفعي
نَعيبُ زَمانَنا وَالعَيبُ فينا       وَما لِزَمانِنا عَيبٌ سِوانا
وَنَهجو ذا الزَمانِ بِغَيرِ ذَنبٍ       وَلَو نَطَقَ الزَمانُ لَنا هَجانا
وَلَيسَ الذِئبُ يَأكُلُ لَحمَ ذِئبٍ       وَيَأكُلُ بَعضُنا بَعضاً عَيانا

The Arabic verses are some of the Arabian Treasures. I am merely translating. Hope I'm giving it its justice:

We scorn our time
but for our faults
and satirize it while
it would, if it talked.
And though no beast
eats its fellow beast,
the man would clearly
his fellow man eat.

A gem indeed, and well translated, only the second line the first two words could be reversed, (But for our faults) otherwise it reads very well.
Yours as always, Ian.T

I am really happy you like what I'm doing here. I am so happy I can show some of the Arabic poetry to my dear friends. I wish some more will read and know about it.
Thanks for your kind words.
