Maelstrom

Maelstrom

A man is pitched through the door
by blasts from steppes.
Scrub and cactus land,
Earth’s belly has been ripped open,
giving birth to grit and death.
Gloom is ushered in by a maelstrom of dust.
Tumbleweed scratches at windows,
spidery skeletons seeking shelter
from relentless wind.

I hate rules

Bu some people are posting several poems every day. This says something about them, that hey don't care about feedback or working on their work.

I would like to ignore them but there is always the nagging feeling I will miss a gem.

Remember that one-a-day was voted in democratically on the old Neopoet and I would expect it to come up again.

"not currently editing" has got to go!

This new option, available when posting a poem, was intended for use with poems that have been submitted for publication and can not be changed.

Even for that purpose an argument could be made that those poems no longer have a place in a poetry workshop environment, however it is good to have them here if the revision history is available to see how the poem has developed.

But, the option is being used just to avoid responding to feedback. If it is kept at all it should perhaps read "Submitted for Publication" or something unambiguous like that.

Calling All Workshop Leaders

Firstly, as a point of explanation, below are the definitions of a Workshop and a Program:

  • Workshop - a workshop exists for a finite time and all participants start and end at the same time.
  • Program - a program is an open ended endeavour that can last much longer.

I am focused on Workshops only at this time.

As a guideline, please review the following:
