thump, thump
I visualize a group of early Homo Sapiens gathered together for story time by fire light clapping hands and stomping feet in rhythm to allow the tribe's story teller to more easily recall the past.

FMD!
That is bloody close, even if you were joking.
Thump thump, I'll give you this Stan, meter is not as good a mnemonic aid as rhyme, but it came first and poetry is consistently better with meter than a bunch of sentences that end with the same sound.

I
wasn't joking.Although I'm pretty much self taught poet (a tip of my hat to workshops here) I have read a bit about the origins of poetry particularly the way rhythm and rhyme were used to transfer tribal stories from one generation to the next. After all what poet Doesn't want at least a few of their writes to be recalled after they're gone?
