ACCEPTANCE

ACCEPTANCE

With increasing age, the balance changes
What was a mix of few transient disappointments
And more moments of innocent pleasure
Change over time - into a different ratio
The reason for which I don’t understand
Yet also with subtle changes in emphasis
As dismay extends into a regular mood
And happiness becomes a rare commodity
This not some generic tale of woe and sadness
Nor any blind acceptance of misery as the norm
Just an observation – as grim as it may sound
But it is what it is, and that is … acceptance

An observation

It’s an astute observation. As you go through life, if you’re aware of your surroundings, you will likely experience a sense of disenfranchisement. Maybe it’s from the feeling of being marginalized oneself or it could be from watching so many of our human brothers and sisters being marginalized or mistreated but it does tend to build up over time. Like a heavy quilt of sadness that just kinda exists over everything. Happiness becomes more a conscious and concerted effort and less spontaneous.

Good write
