ACCORD

ACCORD

That scale interval I just heard
To some it may pose a question
It sort of strikes a pensive mood
At least so often it is construed
Perhaps it is just autosuggestion
But I think it was a minor third

A full minor chord is suggested
Some think as sad or reflective
Sometimes a mood is not finished
Moving into a minor diminished
But you don’t need a detective
Close your eyes and feel rested

The effects of sound vibrations
Or just music theory at the start
Psychology is at work right here
What you think or what you hear
Processes that are pulled apart
With aural nerve perturbations

Whatever a sad mood lacked
A chord can be augmented
Then returning to a major key
A feeling that it ends happily
No longer mad or demented
Not caring if it’s myth or fact

Welcome!

What an amazing poem for your first post. I only wish everyone had my musical knowledge. I can hear what you’re talking about. I spent 15 minutes on transposition of minor thirds and their modes yesterday morning on my guitar. I woke up feeling kind of minor. Your poem has sharpened my 3rd, 6th and 7th. I’m feeling major happiness!

This must be meant...

for music students who should probably appreciate it more fully. I do appreciate the rhyme scheme and applaud your obvious knowledge in both music and poetry. ~ Geezer.
