Account Ability:

Instigated preemptive invasion
causing collapse of state unstable
triggering death and destruction
but who is uniquely accountable?

Will not allow anyone to demonize
as past iniquity entitles prosecution
to punish perceived evil and lies
engendering permissible persecution

Continual assistance from patronage
allowing reshaping neighbourhood
for future geographical advantage
enforcing own greater global good

I am...

liking your themes of social commentary. The rhyme is excellent and it all flows smoothly. Nice work!

not sure what you're saying

In the first stanza is the invasion, regime change, as usual catastrophic. ( Don't need a question mark in an otherwise not punctuated work. ) Stanza two, about the accountability of the event. Stanza three seeming to imply, to me, that the continued presence of the invaders (patronage) helps the invaders to achieve their goals of power...
Not sure what this is meant to evoke in me the reader- a philosophy of history? This reader is unsure what the message is...

as in several theatres of conflict, the protagonists are battling for control not only for land, liberty, and ownership of resources but also for heroic perception in the eyes and estimation of the global public.

I think I got that...

.what your saying may indeed be factual. But what of it? Is it a crime against humanity, or just the way of history? I think there needs to be a stance taken to lead the reader on...just my take, and would be curious of other reviewers.

I beg to differ - the fact of the matter is that value of human lives are indexed to the economic, military and social influence of nations. Up to the present, many a human-induced catastrophe (especially when perpetrated by the powers that be) has been blithely dismissed as just the way of history. But that just legitimizes illegal aggression and punishes the victimized.
