After the Ashes

I brought some of my friend with me today.
We stopped for a bite to eat and sat at a table near a window
with "GRAND OPENING" emblazoned across it.

He's here with me in this vial I placed in front of me.
It's less than I'd like, but enough for now.
We share a few laughs as I think of him.

Or, more seriously, some insights about life in the ashes.
I pay my tab, and on my way out, I put him back in my pocket.

And to think...

that just yesterday, I was reading that some religious scholars think that in the Christian tradition, it is disrespectful to have or be someone cremated. That being buried in some cemetery, under six feet of dirt in a box, visited once or twice a year, is more respectful? I have ashes of my mother and my dog, in little keepsakes on my dresser; I see them every day, and say "good morning, it's time to live some more, let's think about our day." So, I'm with you, buddy, take him out for a burger, tell him how much you love him, and I think that; is so much more respectful than the pomp and circumstance surrounding an expensive funeral and a grave perpetually visited by the lost and soon to be forgotten. Celebrate your friendship every time you feel him in your pocket or see him on your dresser. So.... Yeah, this made me feel something, sorry for the rant, ~ Geez.

I hope one of my friends…

I hope one of my friends would do this for me.
As it should be, a little levity!

To whom it may concern
from what I can discern
my arse is in this urn.

(Perhaps I got this wrong, )
